Yes, Bang, Thank You.




There has been a lot of good to come out of Iowa over the years; this blog, punk'd and Arthur Russell to name a few things. Russell has gotten props here before (see - is it all over my face?) with good reason. Russell worked all over but most notably in S.F. with Allen Ginsberg and in NYC with the likes of David Byrne. In '79 Russell started going under the alias Dinosaur/Dinosaur L and in '81 Russell and Will Socolov founded the label Sleeping Bag Records to put out the LP 24 -> 24 Music. The LP was reissued on CD earlier this month. The deal with these disco and discreetly experimental jams is that the beat changes every 24 bars (hence the title) with improv grooves overtop. The lineup on 24 was pretty much unchanged from the lineup for Loose Joints (Is It All Over My Face?) including the Ingram brothers rhythm section.
