Actually, Strings of Life was originally an old Derrick May track under the alias Rhythim Is Rhythim (yes, spelled that way). Came out back in 87, but played around true techno heads, still gets a massive response to this day (it's almost obligatory to hear it at DEMF).
ReplyDeleteKrivit re-edited it, as only Mr. K can do, and a small label called Whistle Bump released it. That 12" was a longtime secret weapon in my house sets... everyone knew the original tune, but the krivit edit had a ton more kick. Crowds still go nuts to those strings.
Then Defected picked it up, threw vocals over it, blah blah blah, Ibiza anthem, essential whatever, yadda yadda.
still a great tune, but can't really shock a crowd with it anymore since defected blew it up.
word, thanks for the knowledge dude. Shit still bands in the midwest where ibiza is just an island in the mediteranean.
