For Trillz

Always waiting till the last possible minute, I still dont have my r-tard best of 06 list for you. Try back tomorrow, or maybe the day after. I do have the following: a French Disco gem to combat the brutal assault of Count Drugula's post yesterday, and a semirare track by Pacific Northwest electrodrone hotties, Growing.

Desireless- Voyage, Voyage

I first heard this banger on cuntlickers radio, first track on a mixtape. So perfect. Desireless is a french chick with a crazy mohawk who scored this hit throughout Europe in late 86, and it really is just a masterpiece of calculated maudlin disco.

Growing - Drunk Dry On Woman

Olympia's own Growing are playing a DIY free show at the syrup room (see toddpnyc) next week on the coast with the most. Two thirds of the TRP blog crew plans to be in attendance, the other third is high on that 8 kinds a day shit.

For reallz.

Vagabonds of the VOIDDD

Over the summer, I got my dome opened to some bomb French rock/dance/psychedelic music and today I am here to share some bombers with you. First up is the awe-inspiring and horrendously unknown (at least here) Catherine Ribeiro. I've only heard her stuff fronting the group Alps in the late 60s and 70s, before she moved on to a solo career. The first track is a groovy rocker from the seismic shifting Paix LP. The other two are a Comus meets Can freakout two parter with some flashy keyboards totalling an enthralling 12 minutes off the operatic Le Rat Debile Et l'Homme Des Champs. This stuff has seriously made my year and has yet to get the reissuse treatment or press hype it deserves here.
Roc Alpin-Catherine Ribeiro
Poeme Non Epique No. III-Catherine Ribeiro
Poeme Non Epique No. III Finale-Catherine Ribeiro

Next up is the cybernetic chanteusse Beatrice Tekielski and the opening slow disco jam off of her 1979 album Pour Un Be Be Robot about her desires to go mechanic. Hot shit.
Faire eclater cette ville-Beatirce Tekielski

Finally is a banger from the infamous Nino Ferrer off his proggy labyrinth, 1971's Métronomie.
Les Enfants de la Patrie-Nino Ferrer

Don't stop the Foxy

drawing by: Honeyman

Just found this gem, a toofresh refit of TRP favorite Metronomy recent banger Trick or Treatz by none other than the motherfucking klaxons. With all the buzz around both these artists I'm surprised I haven't seen this blogged anywhere yet. Klaxons turns Joe Mount's sing-song sex anthem into a squelching ritual chant. Though it doesn't bring out the money like South Central's previous remix of the same track, this is a real find for all you anglofuckers out there.

Percussive Boner Trance 69

Well, I don't have a whole lot to say. Got the pic from BoingBoing and it pretty much says it all. I'm pretty fried on meat, wine, fassbinder, and the c-train. Here are 3 dope ass tracks I've been bumping over the holidays. First one is something I never thought or hoped I'd rep, but, you know, sometimes even Fergie can release a bomb track. In my journey to discover the nascent genius that is Polow Da Don (of Zone 4 Entertainment, which while referring to a police district of the ATL, just makes me think of lazer tag), I unearthed this gem. "Glamorous" is a chopped and deep-fried alan braxe jam that almost rivals Da Don's first true masterpiece, Rich Boy's "Throw Some D's" (If you don't have this song, I'll D all over your face.) Second, something of a champagne chaser to that huge line of dome, Michael Mayer's "Amanda" off of Kompakt's Total 2 comp from 2000. Track fucking owns. Finally, we have the 13 minute mind fuck that is James Cotton's (yes, I just posted him, but dude crushes skulls) "Blue Blood." Just sitting through the whole song makes me feel like I've been sitting in the dark, doing the robot for the 5 hours, which then leads to the inevitable telephone poll humping. Fuck New Year's and fuck Will Smith.
Glamorous (feat. Ludacris)-Fergie
Amanda-Michael Mayer

Rappin 4-Tay is a classic Bay Area rapper who has been making music since the early 90's. He is one of my all time favorite MCs, his ultracalm delivery somehow makes his tragic narratives comforting, aided by the minimalist beats and synths that have led some to call 4-Tay "emo rap" (which is ridiculous). I first heard him thru I'll Be Around, which C + J dropped on their lyssnar mix for discobelle. All the songs on his 94 album Don't Fight The Feeling, released just after he got out of prison on drug charges, are ill, buy it. These are all classic trackz. Enjoy!

Pop Locks, Not Glocks

Yeah Hot Chip are cool and all, but Fred Falke is a legend man, the mysterious other half of all my favorite Alan Braxe songs. This remix, though escaping the X heart attack status of diesel AB+FF tracks like Love Lost, is a banger, rubbing up on mutant disco.

Hot Chip - Colours (Fred Falke remix)

Sebastien Tellier is really something indescribable. Closely tied to Record Makers (Air's label), La Ritournelle came out in 05 on Lucky Numbers, packing 5 dank remixes. Tellier is a French solo artist who you might call modern classical, I don't know. As soon as you throw a beat behind it everything gets hazy. This is not a song you will forget. Ive been struggling over which to up here. The original is stunning but I hadn't even heard it until this year's Universe comp. My first exposure was the oft heard Mr Dan's remix and my favorite remains the superpitcher one. Brighton fave Metronomy also put in a killer entry on the La Ritournelle EP. This is a crap shot, so many people have done so much with this song. What would Tellier do?

Sebastien Tellier - La Ritournelle (original)
*yeah absolutely dload this
Sebastien Tellier - La Ritournelle (Mr. Dan's Magic Wand Mix) yeah, just like it sounds
Sebastien Tellier - La Ritournelle (from Universe sessions) acoustic, real intense

Respect My Fresh

Those are my two fingers trying to give bunny ears and here's my top ten list of bangers in 2006. These lists are hard because I dont remember what I was listening to at the beginning of the year. These probably arent the best song of 2006, maybe the Mehdi one is, but that doesnt matter. What matters is that there are ten songs in this post and hopefully some of them you will download and enjoy as much as I have this year. These are in no particular order.

-DJ Mehdi & Chromeo - I am Somebody. Hottest song of the year. The video is the best video in years. I hope Mehdi keeps up these bangers. So much better than anything Justice has done.
I am Somebody

-E40 & Keak Da Sneak - Tell Me When To Go. This song brought the Hyphy movement to the national stage, finally. Although its probably not the best of the Bay, it did so much for the Bay that it deserves a spot on this years top ten lists. And, while I think this song was released as a single in december of last year, it counts for this year. I figure you all have Tell Me When To Go on your computer, so the song I am posting in its place is Tell Me When To Stop by Keak and Haji Springer.
Haji Springer feat. Keak Da Sneak-Tell Me When to Stop

-Bamabounce - Wu Tang Slide. Bamabounce has done some tight shit with the Bmore sound. I've spent hours watching people wu tang it on the youtube. This song is probably the best wu tang slide song. whoop that thang.
Wu Tang Slide

-Cousin Cole - Chicken Moose Rhino Monkey pt1. This track bangs so hard. With the Atlantic Records song and this one, Cousin Cole stepped it up in '06.
Chicken Moose Rhino Monkey

-Tittsworth - 4Tops Remix. Titts has been putting out the best baltimore club this year, and i think this song is the flyest.
Titts-4Tops

-Low Budget - Whatchooknowaboutthis. It was either this or the original T.I. song. Everyone has that song, most have this song. So for the few who dont, here is a banging bmore remix of T.I.'s what you know about that.
Whatchooknowaboutthis

-Kaz Kyzah - You're Gonna Love Me. Kaz of The Team dropped some fire this year with his mixtape. Didnt seem to get enough hype though for him to make it big in '06. Hopefully he can ride with The Team or solo and make it big in 2007
Kaz Kyzah-You're Gonna Love Me

-The Pack/Diplo - Vans Til Infinity. The Pack have been dropping bombs this year. Diplo took the lyrics and matched them up real well with the 93 Til beat. Mashup of the year.
Vans Til Infinity

-Cansei De Ser Sexy - Alala. First heard this on Atari Funkeria's podcast. Hot shit. Shitty that that tour didnt come through anywhere I was.
CSS-Alala

-Mike Jones - Mr. Jones. I love Mike Jones. He didnt let me down in 2006. Best Houston song of the year.
Mr. Jones

ringing ringing ringing ringing ringing on

theres this haunted fuzzy house lick behind this remix that definetly makes it perfect for dance parties you have by yourself in the dark without moving.

Vanilla Dilla (or, Go Bucks?)

So, being from Ohio and generally opposed to just about everything whose content exists outside of mega-churches and strip malls, I didn't get into "rap" for some time, and it took a little extra push to really hop onto the bandwagon. But I made it, with nary a scar. I gravitated more to the twisted, electro, disjointed beets of souls like Madlib and Dabrye right off the bat. One might think it would take something a little less severe than the dude's dying for me to finally seek him out, yet I remained too lazy to bump the Jay Dee. But, really, since every d-bag in this hellsphere decided to make a "mix" of their favorite "dilla jams", opportunity was in the kitchen eating a chik patty and so my adventure through Dilla land began.

Conclusion: He's brilliant. Donuts is the greatest album I've heard all year (which might be the reason I'm posting this in the first place, because my morbid reading of all the retarded top-whatever lists has revealed that music critics really are idiots and don't realize this album is the b-omb). It is the greatest rock album since "The Further Adventures of Lord Quas" which was the greatest rock album since "The White Album". All I know is I listen to this hundred times and love it more than ever. So here's Donuts, in one glorious track, the way it's meant to be heard.
Donuts-J Dilla

"Nothing Like This" from the 2003 Ruff Draft EP on Mummy Records is so smooth that it makes me want to stick my key in my own ignition. The song and the EP are phenomenal.
Nothing Like This-Jay Dee

And this shit from The Shining is ill.
Geek Down (Ft. Busta Rhymes)-JDilla
Love Jones-J Dilla
Jungle Love-J Dilla
Over the Breaks-J Dilla
Body Movin'-J Dilla

Since I mentioned that other Detroit electro superstud Dabrye (Tadd Mullinix, James T Cotton, etc.), let's go on another journey through this hotness. First track is off his Oochie Coo EP that came out this year, the standout "My Zel." I wish this song had been the soundtrack to Jake Gyllenhal's really great movie Bubble Boy. The second track is another glorious mind bender, off of Tadd Mullinix's 2002 Panes EP, Exchanging Modes. And finally, two lovely instrumentals and a violent, violent song with Guilty Simpson and Paradime off of Dabrye's fantastic realease, Two/Three that came out this summer on Ghostly. These tracks BANG.

We're Going To Amsterdam For Winter Break

Got a few tracks before I go to Amsterdam for a couple weeks. Gonna have a good time, yeah. It snowed like 2 feet here in Denver, kinda shitty. And, again blogger wont let me post a fucking picture.

I cant remember where I got this from, but here are some new baile tracks.

Dont know the name or artist of this track, but its fire

Vin Sol posted this on fathertronix. Its a nice remix.

IS THIS YOUR IDENTITY!?

Cut Copy are one of my favorite groups around, their 2004 album Bright like Neon Love was and is AMAZING, buy it. They are from Melbourne and make sweet garage rock meets french electro soundz. First taste:

Cut Copy - Zap Zap

A terrific FabricLive and a crazy remix 12" of their classic track Going Nowhere have put these guys back on my radar for the year. The Going Nowhere 12" came out on Universal but features mega-names from both Ed Banger and Kitsune.

Cut Copy - Going Nowhere

Cut Copy - Going Nowhere (Digitalism Mix)
Cut Copy - Going nowhere (SebastiAn Mix)

Back in 04 Kitsune put out an equally starfucking remix 12" of the Cut Copy track Future.

Cut Copy - Future
Cut Copy - Future (Chromeo Mix)
Cut Copy - Future (!!! Mix)
Cut Copy - Future (Zongamin Mix)

Hells yeah, thats a fucking remix roster. Also, has anyone else seen that AMAZING show Identity on NBC? Damn, Penn is bringing a new level of psychological intensity/uncertainty to basic cable. I would give anything to have my job culminate in shouting WHATS YOUR IDENTITY!? at people.

A sexy cut off a Kitsune Maison comp as well as two versions of one of my favorite new Coldcut songs (man these guys got right back on it this year, didnt they?). Tomorrow, if I can find the time between staring at the Manhattan skyline and eating bagels, I'll be posting their True Skool EP, featuring Roots Manuva, Spank Rock, and Switch!

Blogspot is screwing me up, so I cant post a picture of Allen Iverson.

IT DOESNT OFFEND ME BUT

I like it. These guys have been getting big ups from myspace and the blogsphere this week; somehow they are also the shit. According to their myspace Does it Offend You, Yeah? are "two blokes... not gay" from the UK who are making frenchstyled house with an absolutely demented edge to it. Not just haircut electro, DIOYY? throws in some real kitsch and cocaine. They also have a song about Battle Royale. I could see this shit really blowing up, especially We Are Rockstars, but its all highly recommended.

Does It Offend You, Yeah? - Weird Science

Does It Offend You, Yeah? - Se7en

Does It Offend You, Yeah? - Battle Royale

Does It Offend You, Yeah? - We Are Rockstars
Does It Offend You, Yeah? - We Are Rockstars (FITFORUSE Mix)

"It sounds like you've been eating Daft Punk and Justice tunes for three days, and just taken a giant electro shit" - Roomie

They also did a short (like half hour) XFM mix that is A LOT of fucking fun.
DIOYY? XFM mix (direct link)

Also, I don't think a lot of people have heard this one, but its really obviously these guys bread and butter... I'd snatch it up

Mr Oizo - Nazis (Justice Remix)

BIG NEWS: Theres also a new Justice track that just leaked. Very dank breakdown.

Justice - Phantom

Ahoy Dodepipes! Count Drugula here. Presently I am sans 'puter and my existence has lost purpose (and my bombass musik), so all I do is dream about sex all day. Anywho, I too am personally forever indebted to the Bros. Chemical for that playboy bunny coke party in the countryside Star Guitar. Serialize it with The Paradise's (alan braxe and some other d-bag) In Love With You and Roman Flugel's Just Fucking Mix (which somehow manages to be just as bomb as the original) and you've got a regular bang bus on your hands!

The Paradise - In Love With You
Chemical Brothers - Star Guitar
Audion - Just Fucking (Roman Flugel's 23 Positions Mix) (taken from Ivan Smagghe's Fabric 23 Mix)

Oh Snap! (Electronic Battle Weapon )

I try and never forget about the Chemical Brothers. Watching the let forever be video remains masturbatory for me to this day and every now and then, they still drop a real banger remix or something. You just can't knock a Chemical Brothers loop.

Plus, ever since 1999, the CB have been quietly releasing UK promo-only 12"s called the Electric Battle Weapons. The Electronic Battle Weapon promos are usually released exclusively to DJs to test out new tracks in clubs [data from planet dust]. There are 7 cut to wax so far, and as of last week installments 8 and 9 have leaked in pieces on the BBC and the internet. Because they were only given to CB's favorite DJs, before P2P the only way you could hear these tracks was to be that DJ or catch it in the club.

The Politics of Piety

I dont really have the time or energy to be getting into that much new music this week, so most of this is old and slept on, but I am sure that some of you reading will appreciate it as re-ups or something. This will be a super post though, as I need to do something to procrastinate my final paper with. I might even post again tonight, so look out for the start of "the history of Grinnell club" series. Here's some tunes:

First and foremost, here is another track from Inglish. Its been on myspace for a little bit, but I havent seen it anywhere else. We posted Mikey Rocks a few weeks ago and you all seemed to love it. I can assure you that this new one bangs twice as hard. I really like the Texas screw that's going on in this Chicago track. myspace/inglish

Inglish-Hit Me On My Beeper

And, some newish Bay raps from The Pack and Keak. Hella Go. Thanks to Nation of Thizzlam the net provider of all Bay bangers.

Keak Da Sneak-That Go *poor quality, but whatever

The Pack-Oh Go *super-banger

This Icelandic electro-crunk, or whatever, group is sweet. Steed Lord is their name and here is their myspace. These guys go. I know discobelle and some others put some of their shit up a while ago, but neither speilberg or I grabbed it. If you all know where I can get some more of this shit, post a comment please.

Steed Lord-You(Klever Remix)

Steed Lord-Dirty Mutha(Triple Zut Remix) *True banger, you'll recognize it from Flosstradamus' 3Peat mix

Slept on this for sure:

Tittsworth-Titts'mas

I realized, that as some of the biggest proponents of the Air Cock Thrust in Grinnell Iowa, we havent even posted any Spank Rock, except for the verse on the Lindsay Lohan song. So, here it is. You probably have some of this, but I figured I'd throw up a bunch of Put That Pussy On Me remixes.

Low B's

Diplo's Tonite

Josh Console's Not Rnb

And finally, the triumphant return of what was in my opinion the best mix series ever. Lemon-Red has up a holiday mix by Snack and C'mish. We can only hope this is going to be a regular monthly thing.

If youre lost you can look and you will find me

Sometimes thing get dire. Thats this week here at school, everyone's walking around looking like this guy. I was thinking of posting comfort music but its already been done so poorly by so many so instead its just SOMETHING DIFFERENT tonight.

Magazine - Definitive Gaze

Magazine - Shot by Both Sides
Magazine - The Light Pours Out of Me
Magazine - Motorcade

Magazine were on that real old school post-punk thing hard, Howard Devoto left the Buzzcocks in 77 to do MORE CRAZY shit, succeeding like a madman. Real dark and empty but filled with sinister hooks, all the songs on their debut Real Life are sick. These are my picks. The first two are obvious, completely essential, download them or youre just not getting it. I've also got a thing for the Motorcade.

Count Drugula (who will soon be joining our blogging team) keeps bumping this on my laptop. Its like, a German protest song or something...

Tocotronic - Pure Vernunft Darf Niemals Siegen (Superpitcher/Wassermann Single Mix)

I can't get it out of my head: "Die uns in Bambuskarben wiegen! Pure Vernunft darf niemals siegen!" Listen for the ill guitar at 1:19.

Bird Droppings

Postings this week might be kinda slow, as all of us have a lot of work with finals and finding people to shovel our snow while we're in Amsterdam. We actually get fined by the city if we don't shovel our sidewalks. That, and I've recently started watching Prison Break, 6 hour blocks of it and shit.

Bird Peterson just dropped this banger on the fathertronix boards. Bird's been on fire lately.

We're the ones that are going home with your girl

Who bumps France? Fluokids dropped a trailer for the new TTC album like a month agoish, now they've given us whole track. This song is off the wall. Between Para One, Teki, and Cuizi Cuiz, Institubes is definetly going to be doing it big this coming year. Here's the spankity new track and a throwback classic from the crunksters of French club rap. TTC est sur la maximum!

TTC - Quand je claque des doigts
TTC - Dans le club

And one of my favorites off the first Cuiz mixtape, Pour Les Filles

Cuizinier - ça continue (feat. craiz)

This cut is in heavy rotation on the blog circuit this week, from TTC's DJ Orgasmic's forthcoming mixtape, The Rise and Rise of Orgasmic

Orgasmic feat. Cuizinier & Charly Greane - Stade de France

It seems like Ed Banger is focusing in on hyping DJ Mehdi globally (not like I blame them), so its been a while since they've dropped a 12" which created a fissure in my skull. But the string of releases from this and last year by the likes of Zongamin, Krazy Baldhead, Mr Flash, and SebastiAn will not be soon forgotten, and when that Justice LP finally drops... well, la vie c'est fin.

I didn't hear this release (Ed Banger 003) getting as much hype as some of the other EB wax. But this cut is serial, a solid, bumping disco joint with crazy surrealist lyrics over it. Two balmer remixes off the 12" by some of France's finest.

Vicarious Bliss- Theme from Vicarious Bliss
Vicarious Bliss - Requiem for Vicarious Bliss (remix by Busy P)
Vicarious Bliss - Theme from Vicarious Bliss (remix by Justice)

"Maybe its the sheep who been tellin me lies!"

With all the new hype over Ghostface and his new shit. I figured I should post this gem. I don't think this was every released offishally, but I could be wrong. Charli Baltimore sure is hot, with her red hair and all-she did fuck Biggie.

Charli Baltimore & Ghostface Killah-Stand Up

Dancehall track for the day:

Delly Ranks-Bogle Memorial from the 12 gauge riddim

Time to push my own shit. A nice little bmore track sampling my favorite scene from any movie:
Pop Rawkus-Them Are Twenties

And finally, we slept on this one a couple days. But, in case you dont read all the other blogs:

Creepers and Keepers

We're chasing hell week here at school, so I don't have time for artist bios or anything today, just good fucking music. If you need a paragraph to go with every track you hear you may be missing the point anyway.

High Powered Boys (Surkin and Bobmo) - Hoes Get Down

!!! - Intensify (rub n' tug throwdown)

Lindstrom - I Feel Space (the track of '05?)

Professor Murder - Champion

Due to a resemblance brought to my attention by the hyper-knowledges of one Count Drugula, I am changing my nom de geurre. You can find a wealth of juicy mashups by the original Dopplebanger here. In consequence, my meta-emergence will happen thusly:

DJ Steven Spielberg - Munich Make You Lose Control

Give listen
photo from dirtydirtydancing

No real theme for today's post, just some bangers, not even new ones.

My God

The first I heard of Twin of Twins was the vagina track over the Eifel 65 riddim on Diplo's podcast a while's back. It blew me away, at the time I assumed it was Leftside and Esco (sounds sort of similar to Dr. Evil), but I was wrong. Twin of Twins are, yes, two twins from Jamaica who are unsigned, I think, but are still making huge waves. They hate "Uptown" dancehall, like Sean Paul and that shit, and apparently they hate Beenie Man. I just got one of their albums, Stir It Up 4, and its pretty wierd. Not too much music on it, mostly them imitating different voices and chatting, so I wouldnt recomend it-I hear that is also how Stir It Up 5 is. But, the shit they put on various riddims is hot, always banging.

More Ignition Remixes

Just came across these banging dancehall remixes of the ignition remix. The first is from Beenie Man, its what you'd expect out of him, good shit. The second is really where it's at though. Wayne Marshall gives the heads another anthem.

Would you hate me on the regular?

Lowbudget (DJ guru, of Hollertronix and Trilladelphians fame, head of Fathertronix) just dropped these two fire remixes of JT's My Love over at the boards. They both absolutely bump but if I had to pick I think the club version is the standout. The acapella is unreleased, but LB must have the hook up, these are wicked crazy.

...I would have bought that bitchin Stetson back in Steamboat, aaannnd that Mishka X-product at the Mad Decent tour in Williamsburg (no, not the re=enactment town, poprocks), the one in the pic above (I think they were sold out by Brooklyn, and they were like $40 anyway). Mishka makes the craziest t-shirts in NYC, they just dropped their new line over at your favorite record store.

model: dopplebanger

I've been listening to 9th Wonder-Invented the Remix, there are a few standout tracks on it. The sample on the prodigy song is real nice, I'm not a huge Prodigy fan, but this is good. I love Ether, and this remix does Nas's lyrics justice.

Got that lung

bits of randomness for a week whose highlight will probably end up being Britney upskirt picks. in honor of her rebellion against panties and that one photo where you can see her c-section scar, im parting with the following precious commodity

Kevin Federline - Americas Most Hated (from that concept album about squandering his wife's fortune)

here's a throwback, Jimmy Tamborello has maybe gone downhill lately, but he's pretty undeniable, everyone likes those 3 tracks on the Postal Service album. here's a rare one Count Drugula wouldn't stop playing for me last semester.

Dntel - Everythings Tricks (from the Jukebox 10 7" on belgium's Aim records, props to Keytars and Violins)

And some other cuts I've been mutilating on Traktor instead of reading tantras

Cool Kids

Inglish. This is ill, maybe the next Spank Rock. Seriously, bomb.
Inglish-Mikey Rocks

myspace.com/inglish

My favorite dancehall production team, Leftside and Esco, got a new riddim out-The Top Class Bullet Riddim. Shit is fire, so hot. Dr. Evil's track is dissapointingly homophobic, I was hoping he would just get over it already and rap about weed. So, the two tracks off the riddim I'm gonna post are from Voicemail and Elephant Man. In case you didnt know, in Jamaica the producers make a Riddim and then other artists rap/sing over the riddim-not so much the singer/rapper getting solo production for a song.

Voicemail-Nah Go Get Away

Elephant Man-Bomb Rush Dem

DJ Technics, one of Baltimore's greats just released a bunch of new tracks. Here are some of the bangers.
Beyonce-Irreplacable Seriously, this track kills

Low Budget just dropped this bomb at fathertronix. A nice Teddybears and Justice mashup.

London via Brighton (by way of Devon) - METRONOMY MEGA POST

Of all the acts featured on those BALMER Maison Kitsune comps, the two that stand out to me the most are Metronomy and Digitalism. Metronomy is former rock drummer Joseph Mount, based in Brighton, who is currently dropping some razor sharp jawns, sounding sort of like Four Tet if he knew what the fuck a dance beat was. His debut album Pip Paine (Pay Back The £5000 You Owe) which came out this past summer on Holiphonic is seriously worth checking out, alternating between slower numbers like the serene "This Could Be Beautiful" (check last weeks Klaxons post) and bangers like "Trick or Treatz" that could compete with his remixes on the dancefloor

Some tastes (from Pip Paine)
Metronomy - You Could Easily Have Me
Metronomy - Trick or Treatz
Metronomy - Black Eye/Burnt Thumbs
Metronomy - This Could Be Beautiful (repost)

buy the album!

Like Digitalism but to a lesser degree, Metronomy's made a big name in the remix game. Remixing fatty UK acts like the Gorillaz and Franz "Fuckfaces" Ferdinand has hopefully been good to him. The real treatz are his Sebastian Teller and Dead Disco refits, oh shit also the sweet Infadels track Love Like Semtex, if i can find it

Dead Disco - The Treatment (metronomy remix)

Sebastian Teller - La Ritournelle (metronomy remix)
Franz Ferdinand - Do You Wanna? (metronomy remix)
Zero 7 feat. Jose Gonzales - Futures (metronomy remix)
Infadels - Love Like Semtex (metronomy remix)*

*my bandwith is fucked, ill have to up the rest of these files from campus in the morning, sry kids! we don't have an rss feed, its not like anyones reading this anyway...

metronomy (n.) ---> the counting of time with instruments

Trouble and Bass

photo from: cobra snake

Drop The Lime is getting pretty big. Dudes on fathertronix are calling him the next Tiesto? He is on a new EP from Trouble and Bass that is coming out soon, Bass Bandits-maybe Bass Bandits is the crew and Trouble and Bass is the EP, I dont know. Anyway, via FlaminHotz Records-here are some tracks and what they have to say about the EP.
"Blending elements of hip hop, grime, dubstep, bmore club and electro, New York’s Trouble and Bass crew is set to drop a speaker shattering ep of remix’s for Flamin Hotz. Drop the Lime and Math Head have selected six of the hardest club ready remix’s that the the crew produced this year. These tracks have been club tested and dance floor approved all over Europe and North America and a ready to make your speakers bleed. One listen will let you know that the Bass Bandits are here and ready to destroy your sound system." website

And, another Drop The Lime track I got from Analog Giant
Died In Your Arms

DJ Excel has been called the furture of Bmore club by Scottie B. That means something, in case you didnt know. Dude has been dropping a lot of fire lately, here is some of it. Check out the website

J'aime faire des croquettes au chien

AFX is a god, and windowlicker may be his greatest banger. The last minute and a half of this song is one of the squelchiest wet dreams to ever come out of my stereo. The video, though no Come to Daddy, is also a sure winner. When I saw Diplo and he dropped this song with Percolator, I was SO pissed that he cut it before the cumshot.
I mean, few tracks have a money shot like this one, only a communist could ignore it

Aphex Twin - Windowlicker

I always figured more DJs would be all over this one, but the only refits I've found of any note are these two, including a pretty rare cut from the always impressive Trentemoller

South Central?

South Central DJs? wtf? Anybody who knows, knows that the real South Central is the South Central Cartel. These dudes released In Gatz We Trust in 1995, a record I was lucky enough to recently find on vinyl. Back in '95 these guys were holding down that West Coast gangsta sound that everybody loves. Because of some banging bmore mixes that I havent been able to get away from in the past few hours, I havent had a chance to listen to this new album yet. But, I am pumped up for it, as you should be, too. I didnt wanna forget to post this, so I hope this lives up to what I expect.
South Central Cartel-Tha Hoodz In Us

What else we got? How about some bangers courtesy of Palms Out Sounds' Remix Sunday. Direct Links
Eddie Murphy-Party All The Time (DJ Klever Bmore Mix)
Faithless-Miss You Less See You More (Switch Remix)
Kelis & Cee-Lo-Lil Star (Linus Loves Remix)

A few more tracks:
Space Cowboy is the shit, check out his webpage Flosstradamus kills it on this remix of Space Cowboy's track, Egyptian Lover.
Space Cowboy-Egyptian Lover (Flosstradamus/Curtified Remix)

A pretty hot, relatively new Young Joc track. He smashes on this one.
Young Joc-Money

And, finally, some bmore. A Debonair Samir track that I can't get enough of. This one is pulled off of Curtis Vodka and Al Ripken's new mix.

A klaxon is an electromechanical horn device, everyone likes Klaxons so much because its fun to say klaxon, and because they sound like bloc party on meth and ecstasy. DJs love Klaxons because of those FATTY bass lines they drop in their tracks, and the dude is less whiny than most with a Factory records haunt to his voice. The Bouncer and Atlantis to Interzone have become public property of the remix community.
First Canadian thrash-gurus Crystal Castles laid it down on this refit

Klaxons - Atlantis to Interzone (crystal castles remix)

Which reminds me, Crystal Castles fucking own. Check out this pair of glitch raver jawns (direct links) and look to their myriad network of myspaces, starting here for many more bangers

Crystal Castles - She Fell Out
Crystal Castles - Love and Caring

Along with the CC remix, Klaxon's new Xan Valleys EP on Kitsune features Australian Vanshe Technologic already well-blogged transcendent remix of Gravity's Rainbow.

Klaxons - Gravity's Rainbow (Van she tech mix)

I haven't heard much of Vanshe but what I've heard I like (check out their balmer Miami Les Fruits). Here's their sinister tear-up of a Daft Punk standard and an original track to boot

Dangerous Dan and Nicky Van She Technologic - Around the World in 5:07 (direct link thanks to acid girls)
Van She - Kelly (I love this gay fucking song)

Who is South Central? It's probably unliscensed, but this one just WONT quit

Klaxons - The Bouncer (South Central Bootleg)

And, well, it's not Klaxons, but it is Maison Kitsune, and this one gets me every time too

Metronomy- This Could Be Beautiful

That last one should kill you

There are a lot of top 40 rap songs, most of them add a verse from Elephant Man and call it a remix. This one changes the beat a little and adds a verse from Elephant Man.
Diddy feat. Elephant Man-Come To Me (Dancehall Remix)

Here's a throwback. The Luniz (I Got 5 On It) and 2Live Crew on the same track. This track is insanely hot. There is another song on this mp3, don't know what it is, something with The Luniz.

Some Music!

photo from: dirty dirty dancing

I'm gonna start trying to do the whole fluokids thing with pictures of hot girls

Here is the remix of Justice's banger, Let There Be Light, by DJ Funk. DJ Funk has that ghettotech/booty shakin' sound down. I've heard mixed things about him live, but I hope he comes back to Iowa, as missed him over the summer.
Let There Be Light (DJ Funk Remix)

So, the new Bloc Party leaked the other day. After a few listens, it doesnt have the same catch as Silent Alarm. Maybe it'll take some time to grow on me. Hopefully we see the same remix treatment that Silent Alarm got. Here are a few tracks that caught my attention:

Bloc Party-Hunting for Witches
Bloc Party-Where is Home

We're Going To Cancun For Spring Break

We're Going to Cancun for Spring Break!

Got this new Trilladelphians (Low Budget & Dirty South Joe) track off the fathertronix boards. Shit's fire. One of the funnier Chappelle skits from the third season+some great Lil Jon commentary that makes the track bump. Hopefully we'll be seeing an EP or something from the Trilladelphians.
Trilladelphians-Beeyah

Check out this youtube vid: A Trak in China

Here's a couple Klaxons songs I found recently. They've been blowing up, but I havent seen too much of their non-remixed stuff, so here is some shit without remixes. These are all direct links:
Gravitys Rainbow
Atlantis to Interzone
Magick
Horsemen of 2012

And finally, something off the new Clipse album, Hell Hath No Fury. This whole record is the shit, hopefully it sells. This track has a hellish sounding evil beat.
