THE BIOFEED

"Music for clusters seems most infusing when wordless gentle and easy"
-Dorelle Heisel

New music tuesday up in this bitch. We've got some Spectral bangers and this hot new Tongues
stuff, both out today, as well as some more of the new Digitalism that continues to leak out in epic bits. What will Idealism reveal? I'm biting my tongue for May.

Audion - Mouth to Mouth (Mantap mix by Hearththrob) [alt link]

Audion - Mouth To Mouth (Whorenando's "Couch To Couch" Mix By Konrad Black)
[alt link]

Eagerly anticipated remix 12" from Ghostly wunderkid Audion drops today. Heartthrob's hot breath treatment made some waves on the web a few weeks back, now we have two more tracks to slobber over. We're not trying to recuscitate nobody, just maybe get a little tongue action. Make sure to cop it, if only for the Mantap.

Kieran Hebden & Steve Reid- The Sun Never Sets[altlink]

Kieran Hebden and Steve Reid - People Be Happy / Rhythm Dance (Audion Highlight Mix) [alt link]

How does free jazz end up on TRP? One of three ways: 1) Audion remixes, 2) Domino sends it to us, 3) Count Drugula. Two of these three things went down. Out today, Kieran Hebden and Steve Reid's Tongues is too official. Everyone knows Kieran can lay it down as Four Tet or in Fridge, the press release I got from domino made several references to "explosive riffing," which cracks me up but describes the decidedly "locked-on" nature of these tracks nicely. This is good shit, cop it from Domino and be sure to bump the remix.

Digitalism - Pogo

The bedside argument about Digitalism is whether or not they can make a track that ISN'T an epic, and (alternatively) whether it matters. After TVTV leaked, things started to look potentially bleaker. Idealism is a couple months away yet, but when I heard TVTV I cringed: the whole album can't sound like this, Jupiter room retreads? No I have too much faith in everything wonderful about the first three 12"s for that to happen! Idealism has to be better than the Justice LP so that, when all the chips are down, the Germans can rub that shit in France's smug face. But again, it was seeming bleak. Then I caught this second leak, Pogo, and my stomach jumped, but, yeah, in that good way. It may not be profound but damn if this isn't charming and nice, just nice. I don't know who does the vocal, but its not distracting and reminds me vaguely of their Tom Vek remix. Furthermore, it's something fresh and different for the boys from Jupiter: a stomped out love song. Stay tuned in at Kitsune for the day it breaks.

LOOSIES FROM SHIT TO SHALIMAR

Its monday, I put the boot to my work and the fist to my dome last night, tetsuya means more than sleep, zanendesu. In the words of Hillel, "IF I AM NOT FOR MYSELF, WHO WILL BE ME? IF I AM ONLY FOR MYSELF, WHAT AM I? IF NOT NOW, WHEN?" ...And if not when, now!
LOOSIES! Our first stogue is a sexy new Digitalism track, with props to Hupendimuziki (what a hot exclusive!) Yeah the Kitsune darlings have something of a patterned source code beginning to develop. Bouncy kicks and soaring guitar riffs, as if they had isolated and magnified that mysterious element which somehow, inexplicably, makes house music ROCK. I wouldn't say skip to the end (snot the Futurheads again), but it is, once more, all about what's last.

Searching for something cosmic much? Something epic, something soft and pounding at once? Something you can pour on your chest like warm cocoa and let it heal you? Post-millenial jams are my favorite kind of symphonies, and Captain has a handful. This is that five pegs in one hole shit, and RS kills it as always. You forge new ground Mr. Edwards and it is hot earth. Seriously recommended for all the headz.

Captain - Glorious Town (Radio Slave Remix) [alt link]

Shalimar is one of the most legit Bollywood soundtracks I've encountered, you've got Asha, Kumar, Moh Rafi, that of the wall Burman theme, and then this funky party. Now, I don't know who on earth Usha Uthup is but this song really stands, a humurous pastiche of 70s global style, with bits of disco, India trad, and KC and the Sunshine Band thrown in for good measure. It's a hymnal collage of getting funky, a treatise for having fun with the beat.

Usha Uthup & Chorus - One Two Cha Cha Cha [alt link]

Shitdisco are going to be fucking gigantic. Yeah nurave is tremendously grating, but its also so much fun when its good, and when this shit isn't awful, its really really good. You can cop more Shitdisco from this post last month, including the balmer South Central remix of Reactor's Party. I just got my mitts on their full length, Kingdom of Fear, and though it suffers from Klaxon's syndrome at times (I mean, I'm already pretty fucking sick of Kung Fu), but this track is so nice and unexpected, just get down with how perfect it pulses forward.

Shitdisco - Fear of the Future [alt link]

I see no way to cap off this session with anything but the new Battles track. Maybe you already caught it on another blog, but I just can't let it go unnoticed by TRP. These guys have a bit of a history with our institution, having torn it up at Grinnell at every show. Atlas is a complete reworking of their more abstract sound, this track is high impact, its got vocals, its dancy, and not in a mathspazz way either. It's something hot and fresh, like a crescent roll for oily cog stompouts.

Gearing up to go, I'm ready to start undwinding, Ready to go,
just remember to remind me...

NEET (alone time with my hard drive)

There are over a million hikikomori, freeters, and NEET (not engaged in employment, education, or training) in Japan. They even have their own university!? Why isn't acute social withdrawal an acceptable option in our society? Fuck.
I just want some alone time with my hard drive.

Who knows what about Tom Vek? This track has that London indie meets French disco rave thing going HARD. I can't really say much to this, its Digitalism so you know what you're getting into. Something catchy and soaring, soaring, soaring thru 32 bit discoscapes. This time we've got some quirky yank singing as well.

Tom Vek - Nothing But Green Lights (Digitalism Remix)

While we're on that Digitalism thing, how can we not Zdarlight. This was one of my favorite songs of last year, the first thing that made me go "Kitsune, what the fuck?" Anyway, this is off Kitsune 029, the immortal Zdarlight remixes. My pick for bringing the bass to the face...

Digitalism - Zdarlight (Moonlight Remix)

Thank Kitsune with money and buy the shit
