Yo blogworld I'm new and hopefully fresh. I'm screaming hello from the top of my lungs, can you hear me? No, then hear this peoples. Birdy Nam Nam is turntablism at its finest. Nam Nam does for turntablism what Brian Wilson did for pop music. Crazy-B, DJ Pone, DJ Need and Lil' Mike make up the set and back in 2002 they won the Technics World Team Championships. There sound is instantly appealing and, well, hear it for yourself:
Back in February I think this track was featured on XLR8R's weekly podcast; nevertheless, I am sending it your way. Cougar is from Madison and they're on a local label called Layered Music. Their sound is a distilled version of godspeed mixed with a mellowed explosions in the sky. Cougar's sound goes well with a bourbon (Makers Mark, I am from Kentucky) and a dash of Lunesta (Sepracor's gets rich, you get slowed.)
And to conclude my first post I think everyone needs to hear this song from Eluvium's latest (and best) album, Copia. Matthew Cooper is Eluvium and he was raised right here in my hometown (Louisville). Eluvium is getting pushed hard at the local record store, Ear-x-tacy, with good reason no doubt. Musically, Cooper is a genius in my book as his songs are aural experiences without compare. He has a tendency to weave a cocoon for you to just hang in, totally suspended in an epiphenomenal bliss; watching your thoughts creep by you like my big fat Basset hound on one of these blistering August days. It's relaxing and matches anything Eno ever did. Get this in your consciousness and for christ sake get some sleep (me not you).
