Here's some randomness for your Tuesday, you sweet spacey spazniks. A bit of the spacescapes, a bit of the dronescapes, and a splash of murdah. Oh yeah, and a teensy smidge of Al Usher. Whoops.
Al Usher-Here Today
Aswad-Shining Dub
És-A Love Cycle
Al Usher-Disobbedisco
Holger Czukay-Boat-Woman-Song
Foot Village-4Narc Party (obnoxiously endearing or endearingly obnoxious? and to think, they ain't even from baltimore...)
By the by, Ssurrender and meself will be committing sonic murdah at Happy Ending in Manhattan as part of Rezound and Workweek's biweekly Moonwalk shindig. Talking to Ssurrender, boy is seriously planning on taking the "adderall for yo booty concept" to new and dazzling heights. I'll be there as the freak flag. Hope to see YOU there as well!

Doldrums
I don't think I'll ever fully come to terms with the fact that I missed The Boredoms 7/7/07 show, but like many others who didn't RSVP, I'll have to settle for a bootleg. Cop the entire performance (nearly 2 hours) in MP3 format below...
The Boredoms - "77 Boadrums (Live 7/7/07)"
And here's some more hotness from Armand Van Helden...
Armand Van Helden - "Hear My Name (Instrumental Edit)" [alt link]
Techgnosis
Derrick May killed it tonight in Columbus! NYC readers are advised to keep an eye out for his show on September 8th. I'll post some more goodies soon, but here's a tasty morsel for the time being.

The Hour of the Wolf
While the rest of the TRP crew are getting their game on in the city that never sleeps, this blogger is spending his summer in a city that seems to be in a deep coma. But the mere fact that it's summer means that regular diurnal/nocturnal and sleep/wake dichotomies no longer apply. Since the 24-hour day has gone by the wayside, I find myself awake at 4:00 am pretty frequently, a time when the high-decibel assault of Justice et al loses some of its charm and minimal techno begins to make a lot more sense. Here are some jams for the decompression chamber, once the 133-bpm thump has stopped resonating in your eardrums and the lucid dreams have begun.
Alex Smoke dropped this track last year on his album Paradolia, and it seemed to go largely unnoticed. Not exactly club anthem material, "Prima Materia" is nevertheless an elegant composition. Evoking Arthur Russell, the actual strings on this track have a warmth that the synthesized "Strings of Life" just can't match. (But I'm still hitting up the free Derrick May show tonight in Columbus! Coming soon to NYC, along with yours truly.)
Alex Smoke - "Prima Materia" [alt link]
Just weeks after his pop opus Asa Breed dropped, Matthew Dear has released yet another LP, inoffensively titled 2007, under his False moniker. The album is an extended minimal excursion which is conducive to headphone listening and ketamine enhancement. The album and its single, "Fed On Youth," are out now on Richie Hawtin's M_nus label.
False - "Fed On Youth" [alt link]
Berlin trio My My released their debut LP Songs for the Gentle on Playhouse a few months ago. The album is enjoyable, if not stunning, and if nothing else it established that My My is a name worth watching. This saccharine track is the closer on the recent Playhouse compiltion, Famous When Dead, Vol. 5.
My My - "Southern Comfort" [alt link]
Years before Clicks & Cuts, Japanese sound artist Ryoji Ikeda was sculpting sine waves into ultra-minimal arrangements that blurred the boundaries between installation-based sound art and songs for home listening. Over ten years after his debut album +/-, Ikeda's output maintains a consistently high level of quality, and deserves the attention of adventurous listeners. These tracks are from his most recent album, Dataplex, one of my favorites from 2006.
Ryoji Ikeda - "data.reflex" [alt link]
Ryoji Ikeda - "data.matrix" [alt link]
In other news, The Simpsons Movie is a spectacle, but not spectacular. And now it's time for the Doctor to soak up some real cinema... nighty-night mothafuckaz.

THE LITTLEST BARNACLE
Signs that weekend was a notch beyond under control:
1) I don't wake up until wednesday
2) I immediately order a whole pizza and pay in change and eat it all by myself.
3) I invite all my friends over for a baptism after work and publicly change my name to the Barnacle
4) I watch every sitcom on the CBS Monday Night lineup
5) I watched every sitcom on the CBS Monday Night lineup!!!!??!
Air - Mer du Japon (the Teenagers Remix)
And then I got my hands on some hot new Dirty Bird and smiled while I thought about the face a mountie makes when you kick him in the nards.
Worthy - Irs_Te (Christian Martin Remix)
And then there's this unruly banger, found on Risky Bizniz
Bart B More - Basement Beats
Also, I thought I'd give you guys a heads up to two of my new favorite things to do on the internet that don't scare my roomates.
Friend and longtime TRP supporter Roxanne has started an exceptional rant blog which you should all give a click to: The Jungle Is My Home
Additionally, Brooklyn/NJ wunderproducer (and equally longtime TRP supporter) George Ellroy has a page where he is posting masses of original music, check it: GE Sweet Riddimz
And finally lets all welcome to the TRP team our newest writer, Doctor Cuts. Scroll down two to scope out his first post!!

Magik Numbers
More cursory posts from the count. Would love to wax bullshit, but I'm shitless.
3 Things that I Like RIGHT NOW:
Lil' Wayne-I Feel Like Dying [alt link] (The Veronica Voss/Dead Ringers of rap drug songs. Rather timely that I got my first real introduction to Weezy just hours after his unfortunate arrest. This song is the Real.)
Faze Action-In the Trees (carl carig c2 mix#1) [alt link] (Talk about latency. Even after I saw him perform dancefloor destruction at Studio B last month with this banger, I still didn't get it into my rotation til recently. Man, I'm so lame.)
Dazzling Urbanite (Mystically mysterious cosmic house crew out of Chicago rolling on killer traks. John from Excepter is bringing the positively positronic BelowUndergound to the Barn on Friday. I HIGHLY recommend his track "Another Light" for it promises to be a cosmic anthem if it ever sees release. Hopefully I'll be able to post some mp3's next week. Seriously, check this shit.)

Drugula's Doppelgänger
What ever happened to Count Drugula? Has he vanished through that wrinkle in the space-time fabric which swallows up philosophy graduates? Has he drifted off into the cosmic ocean like Carl Sagan's dandelion seed? The answer is probably affirmative on both counts, but the truth of the matter is that his laptop was stolen at gunpoint. Now, you may not be able to tell from your narrow three-dimensional perspective that, in the fifth dimension, Drugula and I exist on the same vibrational frequency - but it's quite true. In other words, we groove out to the same interplanetary music. Accordingly, we're teaming up to bring you jams from the dark sides of moons that Pink Floyd never even conceived of.
Since dance music seems to be the center of gravity in this density level of the blogosphere, I'll (more or less) stick to that for my first post, but I have loads of more experimental music in store for later.
I presume that readers are already privy to the fact that Wolfgang Voigt, Kompakt, and the Speicher series are essential. If you want proof, look no further than these bangers:
Wolfgang Voigt - "Stomp (Originalversion Monotone 1993)"
Partial Arts - "Trauermusik (Alter Ego Mix)"
John Dahlbaeck - "Wet Summer" [alt link]
The transitional period at the interstices of disco à la Giorgio Moroder and Chicago-style house music was pretty gay and awesome, kind of like San Francisco, home of "high-energy" music pioneer Patrick Cowley. Cowley was responsible for tracks like the gay anthem "Menergy" and an epic 15-minute remix of Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" (originally produced by Moroder). Check out his joint "Megatron Man" from '81 below. Also included is Ripple's "The Beat Goes On", an irresistible slice of disco from the legendary Salsoul label, which was a favorite of influential house DJs like Larry Levan and Frankie Knuckles.
Patrick Cowley - "Megatron Man"
Ripple - "The Beat Goes On"
And now for one of the best basslines in recent memory from regular Alan Braxe collaborator Fred Falke:
Fred Falke with Savage - "Omega Man"
If you've ever seen Terrence Mallick's film The Thin Red Line, you know that the best part is the beginning with all the beautiful shots of that cool island and, most importantly, the Melanesian choir chanting... y'know, the part before we find out why the natives are terrified of the Army. This choral song is one of the film's only uplifting moments - a minute and a half of bliss.
Melanesian Choirs: The Blessed Islands - "Jisas Yu Holem Hand Blong Mi"
Keep it real.
Labels:
Carl Sagan's "Cosmos",
Kompakt,
Patrick Cowley,
Salsoul,
Wolfgang Voigt

This Dyme Def cat is maybe the sickest rapper I've heard in a couple of years. Really catchy flows, but still good flows and not too gimmicky. Dude's from Seattle, so its got kind of a hyphy feel to it, but he also kinda sounds like Jay-z on the black album. I dont know, the album is real nice to listen to, maybe with Crime Mob and 8Ball & MJG, one of the top three albums this year. For real, this is one to go out and buy.
Dyme Def - I Aint No [alt link]
Dyme Def - Moving Higher [alt link]
Dyme Def - I Got [alt link]
Im pretty sure I posted this back when it was new and hot, but I recently saw Weezy do it on BET and realized just how hot it is and had to do a repost, even though its all over the radio and shit.
DJ Khaled feat. Weezy, Ross and others- We Takin' Over
DJ Khaled - Bitch I'm From Dade County (feat. Trick Daddy, Rick Ross, Trina, Dre, Flo Rida, Brisco & C-Ride) [alt link]

FLIRTY FISHING!
This post is only moderately relevant>
Studio - Out There [alt link]
Everyone keeps telling me to listen to Studio, and I'm like, hey, I already do. So should you. They sound like they're chilling on the same beach in LA as Sorcerer or emperor machine and they are spacey but so focused, great, their album West Coast is like a bottle of SPF10 and a magical Swedish umbrella. So somebody tell me already: how are the beaches in Sweden?
The Field concert at Studio B last night was really bad. Like that was 12 bucks that would have been better spent on fire. Whoops. Gimme some Kompakt shit with its balls up, the kind that make you say "UNNNGH", like Voigt on Voigt style, because if not, it better sound like this:
Justus Kohncke - Elan (Prins Thomas Version) [alt link]
Also, this week me and Count Drugula found out that our fellow midtown trim courier Frankie used to party at the motherfucking Garage back in the day!!!! Which tangentially reminds athis blogger, I may have referenced this song three times this week in "office conversation" with my boss(es). Old people seem to get it or something.
Gwen Guthrie - Ain't Nothin Going On But The Rent [alt link]
So true. So little respect for the unemployed but so true.

First things first, you HAVE to watch this video. From my new favorite tv show.
Really a fan of this Amy Winehouse remix by Al Usher.
Amy Winehouse - Tears Dry On Their Own (Al Usher Remix) [alt link]
I heard this recent TRP party with Cousin Cole and a bunch of others was real hot. Wish I could've been there, but I was rocking it in Springfield, Missouri. Cole just did this Cassidy remix for a Benzi contest.
Cassidy - Drink & My 2 Step (Cousin Cole Remix) [alt link]
I really liked thatgo team album from a while ago and Im happy they're coming back with more jams like these.
The Go! Team - Bull In The Heather [alt link]
The Go! Team - A Version Of Myself [alt link]
Our friend Roxy has a new blog and she pointed me to this hilarious thing from an NPR blog: Walk It Out
Im pretty excited to see The Rapture with Daft Punk etc. at Red Rocks at the end of this month. This remix is real hot, all the remixes of this song are hot.
The Rapture - w.a.y.u.h. people dont dance no more (Claude's vocal pantydropper remix) [alt link]
Speaking of CVS, here is a real banging remix of one of his tracks by Trevor Loveys.

ALL OVER YOUR FACE AND STUFF
What can I say? Hard love big hugz and monster thanks to all the amazing friends who showed up for our party on Friday. IS IT ALL OVER MY FACE? was the darkest, hottest, most rawkus after hours beat-em-up we could ever have hoped for. We left puddles of ourselves on the floor in sweat. If you were there, you know. If you missed it, we forgive you, there's always next month. Eternal props to our fantastic artists: my boyz DJ Gonzo, Cuz Cole, Rev McFly, Alex Dirttt, and extra big thanks to THE MAN Skooby (Pocketknife) who not only threw it down with the hardest skills for the final set of the night but was also kind enough to loan us his Technics and Serato box for the night. Thanks to all the Silent Barnfolk and Todd P for the space and equipment. Thanks to Jersey for repping it Jerseystyle. Thanks to all the Bushwick/Queens kids who came out and danced SO HARD; you made all our nights. And finally, thanx to our man Chubby Coxxx who was kind enough to photograph the event for us.
Scope his beautiful work: you'd never even know that it was 103 degrees and almost pitch black.
And even more pics here!!!!
And some jump off tunes for yr Monday morning....
Midnight Juggernauts - Tombstone
Modeselektor - Happy Birthday
Alice Deejay - Better Off Alone (Vocal Club Mix)

Kevlar Pillow Cover
Sonic Weaponry:
Hauschka-Sweet Spring Come
Lee Douglas-OURSONG99
Boredoms-7 - > (Boriginal) (like this, but alas, not as good--best show ever, sitting on a hillside watching a cosmic drum circle levitate the collective dome)
Golden Ghost-Crank (a bit of roommate nepotism here, but goddamn, I've had this chorus stuck in my head for weeks->Golden Ghost's MySpace)
Bodycode-Equidistant (overlooked this one initially, but this jam is an ass-slap away)
Ash Ra-Club Cannibal
Max Mohr-Lucky Go Wild
And all you NY homies, keep your Friday open for the Barn Party. Gonna be wild...
Big Post Before Vacation
The homie Mike B sent us this new banging remix of the Stones done by him and DJ Trident as the Knish Hit Squad. Hopefully you were reading our blog when they dropped their heat filled mix for us a while ago, which you can still pick up via their myspace or if you go through our old pages. Definitely worth checking out if you havent yet.
The Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter (Knishs Legacy Key Mix) [alt link]
Usually when I post a track by an artist and then get an email from the artist's people its because they want us to take the track down, not so for one of my long time favorites, The Cinematic Orchestra. I posted some newish heat from them a little while ago and they're back at me with this nice tune, the b-side off a new EP that y'all show go hit up.
The CInematic Orchestra - Child Song [alt link]
Back in high school I was real into Aesop Rock (laugh if you must), but then I, like many others, realized that good rap doesnt have to be all complex and about "real issues." With that realization I stopped listening to most of Def Jux, all the Weatherman and Anticon. Needless to say, I was surprised by Aesop's new track. Shit is pretty hot, it even makes you dance a little.
Aesop Rock - None Shall Pass [alt link]
This newish series of CSS remixes really makes me wet. The original has obviously been out for a while and with a bunch of remixes, but I never really got into the song until now. Calvin Harris and SMD both come hard on these remixes.
CSS - Let's Make Love (Simian Mobile Disco Remix) [alt link]
CSS - Let's Make Love (Calvin Harris Remix) [alt link]
B.O.B. & Voreheez like to rock at night and party during the day.
B.O.B. & Voreheez - All Night Every Day [alt link]
El Professor hooked up an mp3 of I Sasha's Don't You Know, real hot soca.
I Sasha - Dont You Know [alt link]
El-A-Kru is a real hot soca group outta Antigua. Hot island tune to melt your cold heart.
El-A-Kru - Expose (Precision Road Mix) [alt link]
Now I'm not sure where I got this jam from, but its hot. Nice NY/Vienna produced baile funk, kinda minimal with nice lyrics. Stereotyp, Joyce, Edu-K.
Stereotyp - Jece Valadão (feat. Edu K And Joyce Muniz) [alt link]

Starting today I'm going back to doing it on the daily. And then friday night we do it like old school, like a motherfucking rave.
And this one's for Nick....

Rob & Big is a hillarious tv show
Here's some hot rap tracks.
Dude & Nem got this crazy fun track.
Dude & Nem - Watch My Feet [alt link]
Soulja Boy - Crank Dat Soulja Boy (Superman Dat Hoe) [alt link]
Birdman & Lil Wayne - Championship Pop Bottles [alt link]
Unruly's Scottie B got some heat on the club remix of Chuck Brown. Sure to kill.
Chuck Brown - Chuck Baby (Scottie B Remix) [alt link]
This new SMD jam is pretty hot. Its off a new EP they're releasing on 7/24.
Simian Mobile Disco - 3 Pin Din [alt link]
While discobelle has Vinokourov winning the Tour De France this year, our money is on Oscar Pereiro or Alejandro Valverde. They're riding for the same team, so its a tough call who of the two will actually win, but I think they've definitely got the best chance. And if not them, then Vino will probably take it.
Dress 2 Sweat is a new label you might wanna check out. Rustie's Myspace. Pistol Pete's Myspace.
Rustie - Throw Some Ds (Click Clack) [alt link]
Rustie - Click Clack [alt link]

Screaming Masterpiece
Why is Icelandic music so special? Is a question asked by, I think, Bang Gang's main guy. He answers that its because most Icelandic bands know that they will only sell 200 copies and therefore don't try to sound like something they're not. This seems right, Bjork has always seemed crazy and wierd, Sigur Ros is also kinda out there and current heat like Steed Lord sound like they dont really care who is buying their shit. In Screaming Masterpiece, we get to see the whole picture of Iceland's music scene. The movie deals with the obvious artists, like Bjork and Sigur Ros, and more obscure artists, like Apparat. It's got a bunch of real dope concert scenes, including some more "classical" Icelandic music. I'm generally not a huge fan of music DVDs, but this one is more like a documentary than just Icelandic concert scenes. Definitely worth buying or seeing if it in any theaters around you. You can buy the dvd here and the soundtrack here on amazon.
Just hit up a record store for this first time in a while (there are none in Grinnell) and came away with a bunch of hot freestyle records. One of the Nu Shooz ones I got is produced by this guy Bruce Forest and I remembered I had this hot Technotronic remix by him, so I figured I'd share it.
Technotronic - Move That Body (Bruce Forest Remix)
Palms Out put up this hot Yo Majesty remix by Chris Bagraider.
Yo Majesty - Club Action (Chris Bagraiders Sailing To Baltimore Edit) [alt link]
I'm a little late on posting this, but you're gonna wanna head over to Mr. Singh's myspace after listening to this mixtape. Real hot mix of go-go bangers, Mr. Singh's own blends and some Wale.
This is quite possibly the hottest club EP ever. Very house sounding Baltimore club, I dont know too much about it, other than who Griff and Booman are. Anyway, here's two smoking tracks off of it.
Selectah Road Runna - Boomy Bomb (Saturday Nite 'Believe' Mix)
Selectah Road Runna - Boomy Bomb (Griff & Boo Doo Dew Remix)
Zoelah got some hot new soca heat.
Zolah - Together Now [alt link]
